June 2013

June 2013.

I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I want to take the opportunity as we launch the Northwest Houston Community of Christ webpage to express my appreciation to the members, and friends for being a part of the life of our community.

It has, and continues to be an honor to serve as Pastor for the Northwest Houston Branch of the Community of Christ Church since we formed in January 2012.

For those who are visiting our webpage I would like to take the opportunity to welcome you and hope that the website will allow you to understand who we are as a community dedicated to following the teachings of Christ.

In 2012 we established a mission statement to guide and direct us as we move forward in ministry.

Proverbs 29:18 tells us “Where there is no vision, the people perish:’

We are called to be a people of vision, to reach out and touch the lives of those around us, both in the neighborhood where we live and the world with which we are entrusted. In keeping with this desire the Northwest Houston Congregation adopted the Mission statement:

‘We follow the mission of Jesus Christ by affirming the worth of each person, nurturing relationships through living and sharing God’s joy, hope, love and peace.’

This mission aligns our congregation with the initiatives of our greater world church community outlined in the mission initiatives that have been established on a global mission to uphold Gods Vision made real in Christ.

Christ’s mission is our mission. From this point forward, all ministries, personnel, and resources of the World Church will be focused on the whole mission of Jesus Christ through five, life-changing, church-changing, and world-changing Mission Initiatives.

In response to God’s Spirit we are moving from being a church defined to a great extent by organizational needs to being a church driven by Spirit-led mission. You are invited to put your heart and soul into mission: the divine mission of evangelism, compassionate ministries, and justice and peacemaking for which Jesus Christ lived and gave his life!

I invite you to participate in this vision as we move out in the Northwest Houston community.

The congregation is currently in the process of building a new church home located at 10400 Grant Road, Houston Texas, 77070.

Please visit the Building construction tab on the web page for weekly updates on the progress of our new church home.

Feel free to visit the Community of Christ world church web site by clicking on the image of the lion, the lamb and the child on the right side bar.

It is with anticipation and rejoicing that the Northwest Houston Congregation moves forward in developing a ministry that will be pleasing to God and reflect the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ.

Our mission is to be a true community dedicated to accepting all as we follow the mission of Jesus Christ.

If you are visiting our web site please accept this invitation to visit during our regular Sunday morning fellowship and worship services being held at the Cypress Creek YMCA youth center during the construction of our permanent home. Times and direction are on the web site home page.

In conclusion, as Pastor, I again wish to express my appreciation to the members, friends and those searching for a community that is centered in Christ’s teachings of love, acceptance, and fellowship.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me through the contact us tab on the top of the home page. If you have need of prayer we would be pleased to add you to our prayer list by completing the prayer list request tab on the home page.

Pastor Ron Rowbottom

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8
