Attached is a mail out to the Northwest Houston Congregation.

The letter outlines upcoming information as we prepare to move into our new church home.

The steel building package is complete and is being shipped the end of this week to be constructed the week of September 2nd.

Construction plan is on track and the building will be closed in and work started on the inside mechanical systems the end of September.

The month of October will be completion of the inside of the building and the seeding of the lawns, etc.

On September 22nd the branch annual business meeting, election of Pastor and officers will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Cypress Creek YMCA Family building where we are currently meeting.

Election of 5 delegates and 5 alternates to the Coastal Bend Mission Conference to be held Saturday October 5th at Camp Sionito, Bandera, Texas.

  • Election of pastor and officers for Northwest Houston for 2014.
  • 2014 operating budget.
  • Final vote on amount of Revolving House of Worship Loan.
  • Gospel Wagon program to be presented November and January at the new church.
  • New Business.

Saturday November 16th, the Community of Christ Gospel Wagon Festival will be held at the new church to introduce the Community of Christ church to the neighborhood.

The Gospel Wagon is a fun way to learn about Christ’s Love and the goal of establishing Peace through professionally designed activity centers that demonstrate Gods caring for all.

Plans are underway to have a training session for volunteers Saturday October 26th at the Centro De Houston congregation building. If you would like to be a part of the Saturday activity and help facilitate the 18 activity centers that will be set up please let me know.

As we move in and become part of the neighborhood we want to introduce ourselves and become part of the community.

Other activities are being planned in addition to the regular Sunday Christian education and worship schedule.

Example, the establishment of a Memory Café on specific Friday afternoons to provide a place for seniors to come, fellowship and engage with others.

As we plan for the celebration of the Christmas season we will be hosting activities with the goal of “keeping Christ as the central meaning of Christmas”

It is an exciting time as we move into our new facility.

Finally the letter provides the congregation with an update on what final items we need to complete the inside of the church and equip the building to be a multi functional accommodation by raising the funds required.

Some items listed need to be finished as part of the construction project such as the major cost of the Fire and Security system to meet code.

Other items can be completed over time such as the formal sanctuary seating, landscaping, and the addition of a cross or steeple to finish the brick “bell tower” on the roof.

I thank you for your support in the building process and trust that we will be able to meet the needs to finalize the new church home.

Christ Our Cornerstone

In the scriptures we are told (Ephesians 2 NKJV)

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

In Christ
